Inspire Notes:
David Kohn has built a one level airy space from a 19th century stable block. The setting is open plan with windowed walls giving a generous view of the garden.
Simple.
Open plan.
Whitewashed walls.
Open hearth.
Lovely.

This home style is pure minimalist, rustic living. There is no statement furniture, just solid, well made, reliable, old fashioned craftsmanship in the form of the dining table and the sideboard, for example.
This is about bringing nature in via large windowed walls and enjoying the vast green play area for the kids, (including the grown up kids!), that was once used for horses.
The side tables and the bench by the window are all simply made pieces sans ornament or look-at-me-ness. This is down to earth simple living for down to earth simple living folk. Note the sparse decorative nods via small plants, pillar candles and rustic tableware.
Then there is the exposed, whitewashed brickwork that doesn’t even come across as a style decision per se, more a successful practical one.
This type of home style is not about the Jones’s, it is about family and /or individuality. Rock it if you can.
