Frankie was a gooorgeous little dachshund who sadly passed away in June 2012. She was a wheelchair bound dog and her little life was filled with making people aware of wheelchair doggies and opening the eyes of children with disabilities about possibilities. You can see a little homage to Frankie on the wall below.
Which brings us neatly to this tiny house owned by Frankie’s owner Ms Barbra Techel. Ms Techel, who has written a number of books, uses this splendid little house for writing and has a bigger one just behind it.
Once her tiny 12 x 10 ft studio was built in under a month by her husband, she found that she actually started embracing the idea of potentially living fully in a tiny space such as this one.
“I’ve always loved small spaces. In fact, quite a few years ago we thought about building a bigger house and it just didn’t feel right to me. I love how cozy small spaces feel. I feel that big homes and open spaces are somewhat cold. Not all, but most. Also as I learn more about tiny house living I love how you can be so useful of space. I also love the idea of taking up less room in the world and not being so wasteful.”
Which seems to be a driving force of most people wanting to live in a smaller dwelling.
Barbara has written a book called “Through Frankie’s Eyes: One Woman’s Journey to Her Authentic Self and the Dog on Wheels Who Led the Way” to encourage folks to live with authenticity and passion and celebrate the human animal bond.
Two of my favourite topics.
