Behun 1

Inspire Notes:

Ms Kelly Behun has created a beautiful oasis of calm, beauty and serenity in her Long Island weekend home. Floor to ceiling windowed walls, walnut floors and gleaming white limestone sits gracefully atop a stretch of perfectly coiffeured green expanse facing the sea.

This home style breathes. It exudes space, peace and calm. The amazing location and the square footage has a lot to do with this.

But if we wanted to try and recreate this home style and ambience wherever we are located, even in a two up two down in Stoke Newington, one would immediately look to whites and creams for the skin of the place, then use lots of natural elements to deck it out.

Go for rattan, light and dark woods like white sycamore or walnut and don’t spare the linens. See the door-less walnut cabinets in the kitchen and check that gorgeous linen draped over the bed plus the rattan lighting.

The natural coloured vase in the bedroom is beautiful with generous depth to inject a natural green element into the colour scheme.

Buddha looking over the events always adds calm to a space, so we have added some great resources for you below. The other thing Ms Behun has done is to inject her own creativity into the proceedings.

She designed the table with the hand cut mosaic tiles on its base. Also throughout the house you can follow her example by chasing down those lovely covetable, OMG-One-Offs that didn’t roll off a general pressing plant.

Check out the Bankowsky stool with the hooves, the half-head vase on the table with drinks and the stunning wood art above the bed…trés cool non?
