Melbourne Residence

 Inspire Notes:

This Melbourne DLM Residence was actually constructed off the back of an old Victorian building making for a solid, angular, trustworthy structure.

The classic has been contemporised with a glass facade exposing a chic and spacious interior. The house flows beautifully with simplicity and ease.

Without solid closed-off rooms the separate living spaces are still quite crisp and delineated.

The Ghost-like stools are perfect for the little kitchen island cubby-hole. This is a neat idea in terms of smooth aesthetic flow as some kitchen bar stools hang homelessly off the end of a solid block of kitchen island distracting the eye line, or they don’t quite fit as purposely hand-in-gloveas in this example.

This is a beautiful area of the house. You get to eat on the whip-smart charcoal table and chairs whilst watching the days begin or end through large windowed walls.

The kitchen table in this stylish home is decorated simply with a glass blown candelabra and plant bowl. The light wood floors compliment the dark tables and chairs with clean efficiency.

The cluster of glass ball pendant lights are an inspired choice for this setting.

Generous sized, beautiful artwork and a simple, gorgeous right angled lamp adds quiet stylish refinement…

And even with purposely mismatched seating, the room from this angle still has perfect balance.

The curved floor lamp makes a bold look-at-me statement. Very a la mode, very stylish.

This home design is very fresh. The rooms are built thirsty for light with generous windows. The windows work with the white palette to create the fresh open vibe.

The accents of colour here are smoky greys, charcoal black and chocolate brown. The living room is white with whip-smart brown winged armchairs which avoid looking like grandpa’s study because of the clean lines and contemporary decor surrounding them.

Note how the injection of just the right piece of art brings even more character to the various spaces. The curved arc and right angle floor lamps work very well in this environment because space is generous.

One should take care not to abuse a too small space with the sweeping dimensions of a curved lamp like this one, although the right angled one may fair better. Maybe opt for the table versions.
