Stockholm House

Inspire Notes:

Lovely, fresh and open with a light rug on the chevron wood flooring. The space is blessed with high ceilings and walls that could, from this angle, be made a little more of perhaps as there seems to be an invisible watermarked height restriction imposed on accessorizing the walls.

Perhaps an ultra large print to break up the space a little bit?

One leather ottoman is a good support to the matching sofa and perhaps a one-off statement armchair to mix it up a little in place of the other ottoman?

Lovely expressive chair, very contemporary-rustic-shabby mobile storage and in the living room Series 7 chairs and simple stylish dining table. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Classy. It’s hard to go wrong with white, chrome and black. And it would have been so easy to have yet more upper cabinets but the open shelving is a nice aesthetic relief.

Spacious, stylish, urban, happening, effective.

Do check out the rugs throughout this home space. They are all well chosen for the rooms they occupy, including this flat woven piece above.

At 190m2 this home is rollerskate-around spacious. Very typical Scandinavian vibe, lots of white, lots of wood flooring and rugs. Lovely, stylish accents, generous windows sans heavy-curtained privacy.

The accessorizing, the chevron flooring and the wall mouldings render this space more classic then ultra contemporary. A great space for a sharp urban careerist.

Time for some forensics action! Let us get the gloves on and open this one up…

To articulate this space in your own home think fresh and clean style. This home nods only briefly to rustic in the shape of the mobile storage box so for the most part this Swedish home consists of brand new, contemporary accessorizing.

One has to be careful shopping for easy, fresh and brand new as sometimes that can lead to a space having a lack of character. It becomes a room with very nice furnishing, artwork and accessories but not a lot of personality.

This has happened just a little in the living room where it was suggested above that perhaps one could introduce a statement armchair or a stand out ultra size art piece perhaps where the floor standing mirror is.

The chandelier in the living space is lovely, but perhaps a larger version to space-fill would have been better. The carry-through of another wooden chair just peeking through in the hallway is scrumptious.

When one is blessed with tall and wide space you do need some attention seeking furnishing to balance it out – even in a minimalist haven, otherwise everything can seem too small for the environment or look as though you are renting it out, (which is somewhat close to the truth in this instance).

The dining area on the other hand is rather divine. The statement here is the clock. We get personality from the heart on the wall and the artwork and mucho style from the classic furniture by way of the Arne Jacobsen Series 7 chairs with the beautifully understated charcoal dining table.

This against the white walls, the cream paper lantern and the chocolate rug and breakfast chairs provides a really lovely eye sweep.

Sheer class in terms of spatial and colour palette balance.

The black is carried on into the buffed kitchen surfaces and the breakfast area is utilitarian, aesthetically pleasing and fills up just the right amount of inches.

In conclusion, to achieve this space think understated class, solid foundation colours; creams, whites, blacks and choclatey browns, key pieces of accessories; the simple flower vases, the clock, the heart, but look for one or two stand out pieces that stamp your personality and unique experience on a home (aside from family pictures and such).
