Inspire Notes:
Ms Susie Cohen is a Melbourne based interior designer. Here she has converted a disused 1920’s warehouse into a stylish new home.
Rough sawn bench meets rustic bowl, flowers, a simple wood laminate floor with white walls and fabulous artwork with great personality.
The most perfect decisions have been made here to totally utilize the space available for Ned’s room, ‘flattened bunk bed’ units with drawer storage are assisted by inline wardrobes.
No-handle kitchen units provide a smooth and unfettered eye-sweep.
You can just see an RAR rocking chair peeking out from behind the bedroom units. The patterned bedding provides a small distraction, but a nice one.
Simplicity with Ikea and Ikea-like storage and a distinctive AJ Louis Poulsen table lamp. For the shelf unit check out the Ikea shelf below. See the larger storage unit right here.
Gorgeously simple clean white large tiling. No fuss. No muss.

Two words. Simple. Stylish. There is no excess to Ms Cohen’s creation. Simple white skin meets minimal fuss. Her accessory choices continue this simple language. To create a similar space you would say no to screamingly modern show-off items and opt for warm hand-made fair.
There’s lots of interesting wood based accessorizing such as the teepee coat hanger and the wooden side table/stool in the shower and the stark simplicity is accentuated with the handle-less units in the kitchen and the bedroom.
Your kitchenware would reflect the pared down-to-earth look by opting for rustic bowls and dinner plates. You will notice there are no rugs, throws or other distractions and the flower pattern on the bedclothes is about as excessive as it gets.
If you are starting your home from the foundation up, what you can take from this example also is that this is a house built, (or rather renovated) with very thoughtful ideas about storage and space usage leaving very little room for waste in design.
